South Haven Memorial Library Board Meeting, May 12, 2009, 6:00 p.m.
Members : Ron MacLuckie-President, Ken Beehler-Treasurer, Carole Hodgman-Vice President (absent), Ann Habicht-Secretary (absent), Jean Stein, Elaine Stephens, Judy Sweet. Also present: Deborah Jones-Library Director, Elaine Fluck
Called to order 6:00 p.m.
Approval of Minutes for April 14, 2009: Motion by Stephens, supported by Beehler
Approval of Agenda for May 12, 2009: Motion by Stephens, supported by Beehler
Public comments: none
Correspondence: A letter was read from State Senator Ron Jelenik in response to the letter from the board regarding library funding. Letter to Doug Cook of Country House Furniture to let him know the building does not meet the specifications for the library.
Treasurer’s Report: The Treasurer’s report was presented and discussed.
Vendor Bills: Motion by Stein, supported by Stephens to approve the vendor bills in the amount of $27,213.57. Approved.
Director’s Report: The report was discussed
Friends of the Library: The book sale April 16-18 was very successful, total sales $1002.30
Unfinished (Old ) Business:
1) Budget Committee continues to meet, next meeting May 20th. Voted on proposed Performance Review policy-motion to accept changes to Personnel Performance Policy by Stephens supported by Beehler and was approved.
2) Vote on proposed change to SHML By Laws, Article VI, section 6 (Public Comments) Motion by Stein, supported by MacLuckie and was approved.
3) Motion to approve minutes of Special Meeting- April 8, 2009 by Stephens, supported Beehler.
New Business:
1) Discussion of Deb’s request to change Saturday summer hours. Motion by Beehler to change Saturday hours to 9am-2pm, Beehler withdrew prior motion, after further discussion motion made by Beehler for Saturday summer hours 9 am to 3 pm beginning Memorial weekend to Labor Day, supported by Stephens, approved.
